District Dinner

The District Dinner will be on April 12th at St. Pius X Parish on 69th and Blondo.  Reservation forms available at Roundtable.

Scouting for Food

Our annual Scouting for Food drive supports our local food banks.  Bags should have been dropped of last week or sometime during this week.  Food pick up – April 5th. 

Metro Pinewood Derby

The 1st annual Metro Pinewood Derby Championship will be held 1 – 5 pm on Sunday, May 4th at the GMC Plaza car dealer 11911 I street.  Cost is $5.00 per person (pre-registration of car) or $10 after April 25th. 

Omaha Beef Football Camp

Register now to attend the Omaha Beef Football Overnight Camp on Saturday May 3rd.  Enjoy an indoor football game between the Omaha Beef and Wichita Wild.  Meet the mascot Sir Loin.  There will also be food and fun after the football game. Online Advancement

Everyone should now be entering all of the Scout’s advancement online.  The site is linked on the MAC website www.mac-bsa.org.  All units are encouraged to have all their records updated monthly and a copy submitted to the Mid America Council for your unit’s permanent file.  If you have any questions, please contact Jay Witty or call 431-9BSA.

Friends of Scouting (FOS)

Our 2008 Campaign is nearing its end.  FOS presentations are held at Blue and Gold Banquets and Courts of Honor.  If you haven’t already turning in the date you are having your FOS presentation, please contact Tim Varney as soon as possible at 9346-622 or mariandtim@cox.net.

New Boy Scout Rank Requirements

Effective January 1, 2008 the following changes were approved by National

Tenderfoot Rank – Revised requirement 9: Explain the importance of the buddy system as it relates to your personal safety on outings and in your neighborhood.  Describe what a bull is and how you should respond.

Second Class Rank – New requirement 8b: Explain the three R’s of personal safety and protection.

First Class Rank – New requirement 12: Describe the three things you should avoid doing related to use of the Internet.  Describe a cyberbully and how you should respond to one.

Spring Camporee

It’s time to “Tramp the Camp” of Little Sioux! Come join us April 25th - 27th for our 2008 Spring Camporee. This year we are having a Patrol Dinner competition! Show off your best Dinner after spending the day Tramping around Little Sioux doing events. There will be a Scout Decathlon in the afternoon followed by our evening campfire and OA Call-Out. Cost is $8 per person up to April 18th, and $12 per person on April 19th or later. See our District Web Site for the registration form and Leaders Guide.

Information is now available on the Mid-America Council's Cub camping offerings for 2008. Go to the Camping link of the MAC website www.mac-bsa.org.

Pahuk Pride

The 2008 session for our premier youth leadership training course, Pahuk Pride, is scheduled for June 8th to 14th at Little Sioux Scout Ranch.  Scouts must be at least 13 years old and 1st Class at the start of the course.  For more information see the Bugle or contact Course Director Jeff Baldwin at 493-2384 or jbscout@cox.net.

Eagle Project Approvals

Eagle projects must be approved by the District project coordinator before you start work on the project.  Our District project coordinator is Tim Robertson.  He can be contacted at 731-5001 or oa97tim@cox.net.  You must schedule a review meeting with Mr. Robertson at least two weeks before you plan to start your Eagle Project.
