All units are encouraged to have all their records updated monthly and a copy submitted to the Mid America Council for your unit's permanent file. Our 2008 Campaign is upon us. FOS presentations are held at Blue and Gold Banquets and Courts of Honor. If you haven't already turning in the date you are having your FOS presentation, please contact Tim Varney as soon as possible at 9346-622 or mariandtim@cox.net.
Come to the March Roundtable to get your unit's copy of the 2008 Program Planning Guide. It will guide you step-by-step through he Ideal Year of Scouting, including lists of hundreds of activities and events as well as examples of other Ideal Year of Scouting calendars.
Effective January 1, 2008 the following changes were approved by National
Tenderfoot Rank - Revised requirement 9: Explain the importance of the buddy system as it relates to your personal safety on outings and in your neighborhood. Describe what a bull is and how you should respond.
Second Class Rank - New requirement 8b: Explain the three R's of personal safety and protection.
First Class Rank - New requirement 12: Describe the three things you should avoid doing related to use of the Internet. Describe a cyber bully and how you should respond to one.
Eagle projects must be approved by the District project coordinator before you start work on the project. Our District project coordinator is Tim Robertson. He can be contacted at 731-5001 or oa97tim@cox.net . You must schedule a review meeting with Mr. Robertson at least two weeks before you plan to start your Eagle Project.
The 2008 session for our premier youth leadership training course, Pahuk Pride, is scheduled for June 4th to 14th at Little Sioux Scout Ranch. Scouts must be at least 13 years old and 1st Class at the start of the course. For more information see the Bugle or contact Course Director Jeff Baldwin at 493-2384 or jbscout@cox.net.

Our annual Scouting for Food drive supports our local food banks. The dates for 2008 are: Bag drop off - Saturday, March 29th, Food pick up - April 5th.

Having an Ideal year in Scouting is as easy as 1-2-3-4.
1 Brainstorm - get your Scouts and Leaders together and come up with a list of ideas - remember district and council events
2 Activity Planner - plan your year with the scouts and advancement in mind.
3 Budget Planner - Add all your projected expenses (books, training, craft supplies, awards, etc.)
4 Income Planner - Calculate the amount of popcorn you need to sell or due you need to collect to cover all your budget items.
